Company History & Timeline
Avioserv was founded in 1994 in San Francisco, California as Willis Aeronautical Services, Inc. (WASI). WASI quickly became a top name in trading surplus material for aircraft airframes and engines. The company relocated to San Diego, California in 1998 to support Pacific Gas Turbine Center (a JT8D-200 engine repair and overhaul facility), in addition to supplying aftermarket material to other companies and facilities.
In 2000, SR Technics - once owned by SAirGroup - acquired WASI.
In 2001, the company changed its name to Avioserv San Diego. In the years following, Avioserv successfully transitioned from being a part supplier to being recognized worldwide as the preferred supplier of serviceable lease engines and engine parts.
Currently, Avioserv supplies serviceable lease engines and engine parts to notable airlines, airline shops, maintenance, repair, and overhaul facilities (MROs), and other material vendors around the world.
In March 2007, Avioserv was acquired by Vintage Fund Management, a private equity firm based in Los Angeles, California.
